It’s hard letting go
OUR BIKE IS BROKEN!
It isn’t the news we expected. Our bike frame is cracked and UNrepairable!!
I have to be honest I was hit like a ton of bricks and started crying when they told me my bike was damaged beyind repair. With a crack in the aluminum frame there is no way to fix it. I was devesated. The bike shop was just happy we were alive!
Knowing we’ve been cycling through the mountains and hitting speeds of 80-94km an hour on the downhills the bike shop was shocked the frame didn’t buckle or worse break entirely and send us creeping down the hill. At that speed they assured us we’d be dead!
That bike has meant a lot to me and represented freedom and independence. It has also been there through personal triumphs and some of the most memorable and intimate moments possible with Peter Giesin- seeing Canada, nature, and each other.
I have to say I’m sadden by this loss and I’m still reeling. I know it’s a bit silly but it still feels emotional all the same.
Stay tuned.
